National Meeting 2021 took place online last week. We welcomed a range of top executives, thought leaders, and academics for discussion on free-market capitalism’s biggest challenges—from woke capitalism, to inequality and human capital, to cronyism.

Last month, MBA and professional Smith Soc members joined economist Matthew Mitchell (@mattmitchell80), director of the Equity Initiative and senior research fellow at the Mercatus Center, for a seminar on the relationship between business and government.

More than a dozen Smith Soc members trekked to Palm Springs, California, for a weekend of discussion with scholar and investor George Gilder on the disruptive potential of blockchain technology.

On April 21-22, we gathered over three-hundred student and professional members, along with a program of prominent business and thought leaders to discuss free markets and institutions at our Fifth Annual National Meeting.

Our chapter at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business welcomed alumnus David Booth for a dinner on Thursday evening. Thanks to Mr. Booth for an enlightening discussion of entrepreneurship, business leadership, the benefits of the free market, and the dangers of crony capitalism. There was also an informal Q&A with chapter members.
