This past weekend, the Adam Smith Society held its third-annual Case Competition in Los Angeles, CA. Smith Soc's multi-chapter case competition ("Case Comp") provides student chapters with the opportunity to compete against one other to devise a potential business solution to an issue with ethical, political, and philosophical implications.
Nine student chapter teams from across the country met to present on Apple and U.S.-China trade relations—particularly with respect to supply chain and 5G implications. An expert panel of four judges analyzed the team presentations on the case, which was authored by BYU professor Paul Godfrey. Historian, Asia expert, and Hoover Institution fellow Michael Auslin delivered a keynote address on U.S.-China trade and political relations.
Congratulations to 1st place winner UVA Darden ($6,000) and the runners-up: BU Questrom (2nd place, $4,000) and Cornell Johnson (3rd place, $3,000)!
Thank you to all of the competing teams for their great effort: BYU Marriott, NYU Stern, Pittsburgh Katz, Rice Jones, Wash U. Olin, and UNC Kenan-Flagler.
