May 01, 2017

The Smith Soc Wharton Chapter hosted a well-attended event on the morning of Monday May 1st, a Debate: "The Future of American Health Care." Moderated by Dan Polsky of the Wharton School, panelists were: Paul Howard of the Manhattan Institute, Ezekiel Emanuel of the Penn Department of Medical Ethics and Health Policy, Stephanie Carlton of McKinsey, and Allyson Y. Schwartz of the Better Medicare Alliance.

The panelists discussed the current state of the ACA, the prospects for the AHCA or similar reform legislation, the future of Medicare and Medicaid, and how the new FDA head might change the drug development and approval process. The event was co-sponsored by the Penn-Wharton Public Policy Initiative and the Adam Smith Society.
