IQ2US Debate on Drug Pricing and Health Care Costs at NYU Stern

October 14, 2016

The Adam Smith Society partnered with Inteilligence Squared US to bring another IQ2US debate to life - this one at NYU's Skirball Center on October 13, 2016. The topic up for debate was 'Blame Big Pharma for Out of Control Health Care Costs'.

The debaters on the "AGAINST" side were the Manhattan Institute's Paul Howard and Lori Reilly of PhRMA. On the "FOR" side were Ezekiel Emmanuel of the University of Pennsylvania, and Neera Tanden of the Center for American Progress. Prior to the Debate, NYU Stern Chapter co-president Arnav Kacker joined moderator John Donvan and Intelligence Squared US Chairman Robert Rosenkranz on stage to help introduce the audience to the Adam Smith society mission. In addition to members from NYU Stern and the New York City Professional Chapters, attendees also included several members from the Cornell University Johnson School Chapter, making the trip down from Ithaca. After an exciting debate, Howard and Reilly carried the day and the "Against" position won in audience voting.
