Nicholas Carr Discusses Technology and Culture with Smith Soc Chapters

Nicholas Carr, author and technology expert, recently spoke with three Smith Soc chapters - University of Pennsylvania, University of Texas at Austin and Baylor University. He discussed the role of technology in our modern lives and the effect of the ubiquity of social media and smartphones. The lectures also pointed toward the future, as Mr. Carr spoke on artificial intelligence, automation and the future of work.


His most recent book, "Utopia is Creepy," - which the New York Times calls “startlingly prescient” - is a collection of his commentary on these subjects. Below are some photo highlights from Mr. Carr's events at our chapters:
