Smith Soc Screens IQ2 Debate on Income Inequality

October 22, 2014

Several Adam Smith Society chapters tuned in to the Intelligence Squared US debate on income inequality: "Income Inequality Impairs the American Dream of Upward Mobility" The debate featured Manhattan Institute Fellow Scott Winship and Former Partner Bain Capital Ed Conard, debate against, Senior Economist and Director of Health Policy Research at the Economy Policy Institute Elise Gould; and Venture Capitalist Nick Hanauer. Despite a highly partisan audience in favor of the motion, 30% of the voters changed their minds—one of the largest swings in the history of IQ2—and defeated the motion.
