Larry Kudlow dinner

January 28, 2016

With the 2016 presidential election contest heating up, the connections between politics, policy, and the economy are on everyone minds. To further discussion about these issues, Smith Soc’s New York City Professional Chapter hosted CNBC’s Larry Kudlow for a salon dinner on Thursday evening, January 28, 2016. Mr. Kudlow enlightened and entertained many of Smith Soc’s New York members with a wide-ranging discussion about election- and economy-related topics.

The salon dinner was held at the Kimberly Hotel in Midtown Manhattan. Mr. Kudlow was joined by 25 guests. Discussion centered around several topics. He first talked about Adam Smith himself, and imagined what Smith would think about the candidates and the policies being discussed in the campaign. Mr. Kudlow than discussed the various economic policies that the next administration will be able to affect: taxes, interest rates, job growth, and others. He answered the question, how do the different candidates approach these issues? – focusing in particular on the large field of Republican presidential candidates.

These discussion topics served as a jumping-off point for an engaging and spirited discussion among all the attendees. The dinner adjourned as the pre-Iowa Caucus Fox News presidential debate began.
